Algonquin Township will accept some of the materials not eligible for pick-up through Prairieland. It is located at 3702 U.S. Route 14 in Crystal Lake. Visit the Township website at www.algtwsp.com/recycling or call 847-639-2700 extension 6 for more information.

Accepted daily M-F 7AM - 3PM

  • Aluminum & metal cans
  • Newspaper & magazines
  • Cardboard
  • Clothes & shoes
  • Flags
  • Eyeglasses
  • Cell phones
  • Hearing aids
  • Children's books
  • Glass bottles and jars - green, brown, clear
  • Plastic bottles - milk & water jugs, pop & beverage, laundry & household detergent bottles
  • Styrofoam - place in the second white shed just past the green recycling bins
  • Small electronics - DVD players, VCRs, blenders, microwaves, radios. Place in box truck in center of lot.  NO TVs or monitors.

Last Saturday of Every Month (April - October) from 9:00 am to 11:00 am

  • TVs & monitors - limit 1 per household
  • Used motor & cooking oil
  • Car, boat and sump pump batteries
  • Paint, recycled for a charge by third party vendor EarthPaint (APRIL-OCTOBER ONLY):
    • Latex Paint, water based primer and water based stains:
      • $2.50/Quart
      • $5/Gallon
      • $18/Bucket
      • ** NEW ** Spray Paint $2.00/Can
The Township does not accept oil-based paint, solvents, varnish, deck sealers or products intended for industrial or non-architectural use. 

Rimless Tires ONLY for a charge: 

Effective July 1, 2022, tire recycling fees have increased. There will be a $10.00 surcharge per tire if the rims need to be removed by the Road District.

  • Small Tires: $5.00/each
  • Car Tires: $10.00/each
  • Truck Tires: $20.00/each
  • Tires Other: $45.00/each
Never Accepted:
  • Mattresses
  • Propane tanks
  • Household batteries
  • Lightbulbs
  • Appliances such as freezers, refrigerators, washers or dryers
  • Hazardous household items - heavy duty cleaners, drain cleaner, pesticides, etc.
  • Treated lumber, 2x4s or any kind of construction or demolition debris
